Douglas Newton Brown
May 15, 1928 - April 10, 2016

Doug was born in Berkeley, California. His parents were Lloyd and Ingrid Brown. He graduated from Berkeley High School and enlisted in the Army. He served his service in Korea from July 1946 to April 1948. Upon his discharge, he enrolled at UC Berkeley and graduated with a BA in 1952. Doug was a member of Phi Gamma Delta since 1951.

Upon Doug's graduation, he worked for various companies and was soon hired by Mallot & Peterson Roofing Company as their Estimator in 1957. In 1976, he and Charles Peterson purchased the company. Doug sold his interest in the company to Charles in 1986, and went to work as an Estimator for Enterprise Roofing Company, retiring in 1996. During those years, Doug was President of the Roofing Contractors Association from 1979 to 1981, served on the Board of Directors for 20 years, was on the Board of Directors of the Alameda County Builders Exchange for 15 years and was inducted into the Associated Roofing Contractors of the Bay Area Counties, Inc., Hall of Fame on December 4, 1999.

With all the above going on, Doug found time to court and marry his wife, Sydney, on December 5, 1964. Never having had a dog, Sydney, who had Boxers, introduced him to the world of the Boxer. They joined the East Bay Boxer Club in 1985, becoming Life Members, and also Life Members of the American Boxer Club. Doug served as President of the EBBC from 1986 to 1988, and was on the Board of Directors for many years.

Doug was predeceased by his parents and sister Winifred Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Sydney, niece, Deborah MacInnis, and nephew, Eldon Thompson.
